Installing Entrance on OS X

If you are running Leopard on an Intel Macintosh, we recommend you install JRE 1.6, which Apple provides here and then install Leopard version of Entrance.  Otherwise, install the non-Leopard version of Entrance.

To install Entrance:  drag the Entrance application icon to your Applications folder.  The first time you run Entrance, it will create the system folder it needs.  When you purchase Entrance, copy the serial number from the email you receive from us and paste it into the "Set serial number..." dialog.

A MySQL driver is bundled, so Entrance is ready to connect to a MySQL server.

Installing a MySQL server on the non-server version of OS X is probably the easiest of all platform installs, because MySQL AB provides two PKG files that do most of the work for you.  You download a MySQL server for your Mac architecture (PPC or i86) from the developers section of the MySQL web site, http://mysql.com/.  Then, you simply install the server PKG and the startup item PKG.  Restart your system, and the server will be running.

Installing Entrance on Windows

Entrance requires Java JRE 1.5 or later to run on Windows, and we recommend JRE 1.6.  The Entrance EXE checks to see if you have it, and if not, directs you to http://java.com/ for a download.

Once you have Java installed, download, unzip  and run the Entrance EXE, and it will create the system folder it needs.   Copy the serial number from the email you receive when you purchase Entrance, and paste it into the "Set serial number..." dialog.

A MySQL driver is bundled, so Entrance is ready to be connected to a MySQL server.

Installing Entrance on Solaris, Unix and Linux Systems

Install Java JRE 1.5 or later if you don't already have it, then unzip the Entrance download file.  On many systems you can double click the Entrance jar icon to start the program.  You can also start Entrance using the command:  "java -jar (path to the program directory)/entrance.jar".  Run the program, then open the Tools menu and select the serial number in the "Enter serial number..." dialog.

A MySQL driver is bundled, so Entrance is ready to be connected to a MySQL server.
