How to give
yourself an Entrance demonstration
Step 1.
Install Entrance and get it connected to a MySQL server.
Here are the
instructions for doing this.
Step
3. Now you can make a line chart. Double click on a
table in the tree to open it. Click on an entry in
the table to select it, and then right-click or control-click it again
to bring up the table popup menu:
Select "Make a
line chart". Congratulations, you just made a line chart!
Step
4. Now try selecting table data from a chart. Press and
hold down the mouse button to drag out a box over some of the points in
the chart you made, like this:
Pick
"Select these", and you will see the results of querying for the data
points in the rectangle you defined. They should look something
like this:
Step
5. You may be wondering what "Zoom in" does. Why not try
it? You can zoom in multiple times on ever smaller parts of a
line chart, and then zoom back out Control-click or right click
somewhere on the chart, and you will see this popup:
From
this popup, you can zoom out or pan the chart. You can also save
the chart as a graphic image or print it. Panning is pretty cool,
too.
Well,
that's the end of the demo. To go further, read the tutorials
listed below, especially the one titled "Charting Data",
which will introduce you to the Entrance PLOT command. It tells
you how to customize the simple line chart you just made, for example
to add axis labels, or change chart colors.
